Somalia to get three laboratories for Covid-19 testing
The Federal Government of Somalia has requested for three laboratories to test for the deadly Covid-19 virus.
Somalia sent a request to the World Health Organisation (WHO) to get the medical equipment for the laboratories.
WHO is expected to deliver the equipment in two to three weeks after which training will commence for the lab technicians on how to test for Covid-19 infections.
Somalia currently sends samples from suspected Covid-19 patients to a WHO laboratory in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, which usually takes weeks to send the results back to Somalia.
Somalia has announced three confirmed Covid-19 cases and is grappling with a weak healthcare system.
